Algona Land and Loan Office Building by Louis Sullivan
Algona, Iowa

Designed by world famous Chicago architect Louis H. Sullivan in 1913, this small gem is one of Sullivan’s eight “jewel box” banks created late in his career. In 1995 the building was bought by the Sullivan Building Foundation of Algona, Iowa, which launched a complete restoration of the building.  John Waters and VOA Associates acted as consulting architects for the projects.  As a part of this restoration Waters researched historical documents and conducted in depth onsite investigations of the building fabric.
