"William Pretyman, Designer"

In his article, “William Pretyman, Designer”, John Waters has brought to life an important member of Chicago’s late nineteenth century design community.  Published in the spring issue of Nineteenth Century, the magazine of the Victorian Society in America, this article reviews the life and work of Pretyman, concentrating on his work in Chicago in the 1880’s and 1890’s, which culminated in his being named Director of Color at the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition.
